Herceg Novi is a coastal town in Montenegro, located at the entrance of the Bay of Kotor and at the foot of Mount Orjen. Herceg Novi, which means "New Castle", is one of the important tourism centers of Montenegro. Also known as a spa and wellness centre; nearby Igalo has seawater mud called “igaljsko blato” (Igalo mud) and mineral water springs called “igaljske slatine” (Igalo water springs).
The most famous tourist attractions in Herceg Novi are Forte Mare Castle, built in 1382 by the Bosnian king Tvrtko I, a clock tower built by the Austrians in the 19th century, Kanli Kula built by the Turks, and the Serbian church St. It is Belavista Square.
The city has many beaches along Boka Bay. Tourist companies organize one-day boat trips to the Luštica peninsula. Zelenika, also a small town in Herceg Novi, is also very popular for strolling along the Montenegro coast.
